FMXIS Components Skins

You've bought our components, now what?
(or click here to see our components if you haven't bought them yet)

To further assist you, we are collecting skins that you can buy for the components, to easily swap in for the default graphics, making the development of professional instrumentation a snap. What's more, if you design skins for the components, you can sell them here too (see below)!

Browse our growing collection of component skins, using the Skin Library tool.

REQUEST-A-SKIN

CLICK HERE to use our discussion area to request the skins you're looking for, or you can email us and we'll put you on our skin notification list

If you have ideas for equipment components we haven't built, by all means tell us about them and we may build them for you.

Make Skins, Make Money!

If you contribute skins to this collection, you not only receive the components for free, but also you receive money each time someone buys your skins.

Important: We strongly prefer "themes" (collections of graphics covering all or several components) rather than one or two graphics here and there.

Here are the downloadable FLA's (Flash MX format, though the components can only be used in Flash MX 2004) that contain the skin graphics. Send us a revised file with your designs, tell us how much you want to sell the skins for, and, once approved, you earn 50% from each sale of your skin set!

How to Make Skins for the Components (once you have the full component set)
The easiest way to create skins for is to use the Library item you want to change as a model for creating your own item, then assign it a linkage ID and set the property in the component to use your graphic instead of the default. In more detail:
  1. Place the desired component on the Stage
  2. Look in your Library to locate the appropriate movie clip (the Help files, under each component, will also tell you the movie clip name for each of the changeable graphics)
  3. Duplicate and Rename the movie clip so it does not conflict with other movie clips
  4. Most importantly, change the linkage ID so that it does not conflict with other clips
  5. Edit the movie clip graphics as needed
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 for all the elements you want to change
  7. Leave all edit modes and open the property inspector for the component
  8. Find the appropriate property and enter the linkage ID's you created for each element.
