I don't know Tom's official position at Macromedia, but he's the heavy hitter regarding e-Learning at Macromedia and beyond, particularly as it relates to standards such as AICC and SCORM. Definitely worth following what he has to say!

The American Society for Training and Development is considered the leading resource on workplace learning and performance issues. The ASTD hosts popular semi-annual conferences, and the ASTD web site is a great place to find a wealth of information on e-learning and its impact in the workplace.

The International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) is dedicated to improving productivity and performance in the workplace.

We repeat this link because the ADL hosts a special conference three time each year called PlugFest in which vendors from different LMS's can come together with content developers and sort out issues relating to interoperability.

Conferences hosted by the publisher of Online Learning and Training magazines, these conference tend to be more commercially-oriented than conferences hosted by ASTD or ISPI.
